Laurie Vanderhoeven

Laurie has worked in orthopaedic physiotherapy clinics with an emphasis on sports and running injuries since graduating in 1985 from the University of Western Ontario with a BSc(PT).

She worked in Abbotsford, Surrey and Richmond until moving to Vancouver Island in 1989. She worked at Nanaimo Physiotherapy and Qualicum Physiotherapy Clinic until taking a 3 year sailing trip to the South Pacific in 2016. She treated people on the boat occasionally during this adventure, mainly for back problems but occasionally for ankle, knee and hip problems. When returning in 2019, she quickly reestablished herself in the Coquitlam area.

She has taken ‘countless’ orthopaedic courses throughout the years and successfully completed the Intermediate Orthopaedic Manual Therapy examinations in 1990. She completed the Gunn IMS certification courses in 2019.

She has a background of coaching at a national level with both Masters distance athletes and youth sprinters and hurdlers and still runs regularly as well as cycling, hiking and sprinting/hurdling with the local Greyhound Masters Track and Field Club.

Laurie won the 300 m hurdles event at the 2022 Canadian Masters Track and Field Championships in Regina on July 31, 2022. Laurie's time of 1:09:10 set a new BC record.  A certified Level 3 track coach in both distance running and sprints/hurdles, Laurie runs with the Greyhound Masters Track and Field Club. She has specialized in treating sports and running injuries.

With this coaching and competition background, she enjoys treating athletes at all levels and understands their need to modify and enhance training programs
