Foot Care (Nurse) Service

Nursing footcare is a specialized healthcare service performed by trained nurses to maintain and promote the health of a person's feet. It typically involves several key components:

  • Assessment: Nurses examine the feet to identify any issues or abnormalities, such as cuts, sores, calluses, or fungal infections.
  • Toenail Care: This includes trimming toenails properly to prevent ingrown nails or other nail-related problems.
  • Skin Care: Nurses may address issues like dry skin, corns, and calluses through gentle removal or moisturizing treatments.
  • Education: Patients are often educated on proper foot hygiene, self-care techniques, and the importance of wearing appropriate footwear.
  • Preventive Measures: Nurses help prevent foot problems and complications, particularly in individuals with conditions like diabetes, by offering guidance and monitoring.
  • Referrals: In more severe cases or when underlying medical issues are detected, nurses may refer patients to specialists for further evaluation and treatment.

Nursing footcare aims to keep feet healthy, functional, and pain-free while minimizing the risk of more serious foot conditions. It's especially vital for those who may have difficulty caring for their own feet due to age, medical conditions, or mobility limitations.
