Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy is a specialized area of physiotherapy for the management of neuro-musculoskeletal conditions, based on clinical reasoning, using highly specific treatment approaches including manual techniques and therapeutic exercises.
Manual therapy involves the physiotherapist’s skilled use of their hands on a person’s joints and soft tissues. They are intended to improve tissue extensibility; increase range of motion; induce relaxation; decrease pain; facilitate normal activation, flexibility and tone of muscle; improve nerve mobility, and reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation, or restriction.
Our physiotherapists select and implement manual therapy techniques when the examination findings indicate use of these techniques.
